Twins Katie and Jack Dillop live with their family in a hard to find house near the river in Newcastle-upon-Tyne. They go to school nearby, and often make the journey in their grandfather’s boat.
When they do a good deed to help an elderly woman they find they have become enemies of a criminal gang led by Nardy Wassack, a notorious villain. This puts them into some very dangerous situations. To help them confront the gang, Jack and Katie enlist the help of school friends and a host of colourful characters including a bloodhound.
Readers who are familiar with the Newcastle area may well know or recognise some of the places mentioned in the book, or enjoy the challenge of guessing where they are.
