‘Newcastle's Old Pubs’ is a collection of over 150 photographs that remember the city’s old public houses. Sadly many have disappeared but thankfully some are still going strong today.
Also included in the book are stories of the days of Newcastle’s coaching inns and grand hotels as well as local breweries, famous brands of beer and the days when Scotswood Road had a pub on every corner.
Tyneside traditions such as football and heavy industry are also featured and their links with the local pub trade.
Old photographs show Newcastle landlords behind the bar and customers enjoying a drink or even going on a charabanc trip.
