Lemington and Newburn have a long and interesting history and this book is a celebration of the two Tyneside communities’ heritage and their people.
As well as ‘then and now’ photographs there are many more old pictures of how life once was in Lemington and Newburn. Work is featured, including: Spencer’s Steel Works; the Glass Works; the railways; and transport. Everyday life is shown with people at school, in church or out shopping as well as social activities such as the cinema, pubs and sport.
Finally, there are old pictures of ‘Days to Remember’ that show local people at special events or representing their community or simply enjoying themselves.
